Branding Basics & Options

Overview

This page includes minimum requirements and optional branding that you can take advantage of to configure the look and feel of your Aunt Bertha site(s). To set up your branding basics, please download the branding worksheet located at the bottom of this article and discuss your branding with your Customer Success Manager (CSM).

 

Minimum Requirements

1. Your Aunt Bertha Subdomain

All Aunt Bertha sites start with a subdomain. This is how we set up a version of our platform for use by your staff and the populations that they serve. Your subdomain could be the name of your organization or the name of the initiative or project using Aunt Bertha. This will appear as subdomain.auntbertha.com unless changed via the Using Your Own URL section on our downloadable worksheet at the end of this article. Example: communityresources.auntbertha.com.

Required for set up: your subdomain cannot be longer than 20 characters in length.

2. Site Title

Your site title appears on the browser tab above the subdomain URL. By default, the site will be titled Aunt Bertha - Connecting People and Programs. You can initially configure this by sending in your own site title to your CSM, via the downloadable worksheet at the end of this article.

3. Your Navigation Bar Logo

Your navigation bar logo is located on the top left corner of your site. When you, or any other user, clicks on this logo, they will be navigated back to your Aunt Bertha homepage. Please submit your navigation bar logo to your CSM, along with the downloadable worksheet at the end of this article.

Required for set up: your submitted navigation bar logo must be up to 250x22 pixels, transparent background, png format

4. Your Splash Image

Your splash image is located on the left hand side of your site’s search box. This is a large logo to clearly represent your organization as the provider of this site. Please submit your splash image to your CSM, along with the downloadable worksheet at the end of this article.

Required for set up: your splash image must be up to 220x277 pixels, transparent background, png format

5. Favicon

The favicon is the small square image next to your site title on the browser tab. By default, the favicon will be Aunt Bertha’s logo. Please submit your favicon to your CSM, along with the other images, and the downloadable worksheet at the end of this article.

Configuration Best Practices

Using Your Own URL

Uniform branding is important across projects and initiatives. Aunt Bertha can redirect your sites to be accessible using a vanity URL. This facilitates cohesive branding and a user-friendly URL. There are two options for implementing a vanity URL (as an example, say your brand is The Helpful Friend): 

  • Option 1: Use a subdomain of a URL that you already own (ex. helpfulfriend.yourorganization.com)
  • Option 2: Acquire a new URL for use with your site(s) (ex. thehelpfulfriend.org)

We recommend your organization creates this vanity URL as part of your existing website structure and works with your CSM to complete the configuration steps. If your team is unable to acquire or provision a vanity URL, reach out to your CSM to discuss other options.  

Note: Your vanity URL should not exceed between 37- 41 characters total.

“Search For” Message

By default, the site will include our “Search For” message above the Search Box on your home page and the Navigation Bar on your results pages. You can configure this by sending your own message to your CSM. This field supports some basic HTML markup (such as bolding).

Home Message

By default, the site has no homepage message to appear below the search box. You can configure this by sending your own homepage message to your CSM. This field supports HTML markup (for example, you can add hyperlinks). You might choose to include an introductory message about the purpose of the platform or a disclaimer about the use of the page.

Custom Navigation Bar Logo Link

By default, the Navigation Bar Logo will return a user to your subdomain’s homepage. You can configure this by sending a different URL to your CSM. For example, you might choose to link the Navigation Bar Logo to your organization’s website to ensure easy navigation back there from your Aunt Bertha subdomain.

Navigation Bar Color

We know how important it is for an organization to have a consistent color scheme across all sites. The color on the Navigation Bar of your subdomain site can be matched the color your organization uses for your other websites. You can configure this by sending a hex color code to your CSM. Our icons and text on this page will be white so we recommend using a darker or more saturated color when customizing this part of your site.

Using Two Sites (Enterprise and Professional Only)

 

 Aunt Bertha can create two separate sites for your organization: one for internal/staff users and one for external/community users. Each site will have a unique subdomain. All other branding assets can be the same or different between the two sites. You can configure distinctive branding for each of these sites by sending the different logos, colors, etc. to your CSM.
